Thanks for reporting! I'm aware of this issue and will fix it in the upcoming update :)

My score.

It would be really cool if neighbouring tiles could offer bonuses or penalties to each other, creating some more depth in play and strategy.
Overall, a pleasant little builder with an interesting historical element.

Nice score! I definitely plan on adding proximity bonuses ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Thank you!
Looking forward to seeing how this game of yours shakes out.

I reviewed some of your previous comments, and I like the idea of the Wonders, but I would like to recommend that players build them with components.
ie:  Spend 100 Wood per Wonder Scaffolding component, and you need 5 Scaffolding, plus other similar advanced units of resources to complete the Wonder.
This would allow players to invest in "checkpoints" toward their Wonder without feeling like they're just waiting for all of the Resources to click up to 500 each.
It might also be cool for the Wonder to be 2x2 hex tiles, so players also have to plan about where they intend to build it.

Some ideas for additional Rare Building types could be the Watchtower.  Build it on Mountains (or maybe Hills?) and it gives you an alert right before an eruption.
And some kind of proximity building which protects adjacent tiles from fires, so long as there is also an adjorning water hex or Aqueduct.

Those are really good ideas!

- Resource "Checkpoints"
- Bigger building
- Buildings with "Special Abilities".

Adding to the idea list, will definitely consider this.

As for the protecting from fires, I first planned to add a fountain building that prevents fires from catching to the nearby tiles. It's tricky to balance because having to take care of the fires is a big part of the game. Maybe on bigger maps it would feel less OP.

Thanks

This game is really scratching a particular itch for me.

Woha, that's a great score.

(+1)

Not bad! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

(+1)

great game really got into it especially after found out i can extinguish fires then it started to made sense and that's the only bad thing can say about that without reading description I had no idea how do it and lost really fast

(+1)

Glad you enjoyed the game! For the next update I already added a tutorial for extinguishing fires! ๐Ÿ™

(+1)

Amazing game!

Found very cool moment, that you can move clouds by mouse, when you hold mouse pointer to direction its moving, it will change direction - very cool idea! it would be great if clouds would be interactive too, like make it rain, using some faith.

Glad you enjoyed the game!

I love that idea. I'd like to implement more god-game mechanics, so this could be interesting. I'll think about this ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I found one bug. When a new day starts and at the same time you open a store, the menu for choosing cards after a new day simply disappears.

I would also like it if when you press the ESC key, if the store is open, it would close instead of opening the main menu

Thanks for letting me know! The bug is already fixed in the upcoming update ๐Ÿ’ช

Score of 5003. Was a nice game, got a little repetitive after getting all the buildings and having so many resources that I was basically just waiting for the vulcano.

That's a nice score! Thanks for the feedback.

I did add more stuff to build, very expansive one-of-a-kind buildings and more for the upcoming update. Might need to add more stuff in the future, but it definitely makes a better experience!

I like the game a lot, especially the pixel art style and the hex-based map. BUT PLEASE FOR THE LOVE ALL THINGS GOOD AND HOLY, MAKE THE FIRE LIGHT UP THE HEX IT IS ON! It is SO HARD to see the fire and burning hexes, especially at night.

HOW'S THIS? ๐Ÿ˜
For the upcoming update:

BEAUTIFUL! Thank you very much. That really helps!

Wait for a update! I like it

A fun little game, and the time limit imposed works really well!

(+1)

I think this would go hard as a full fledged game. W Game fr fr

Ok, here's my 2 cents. Right now the volcano is just an annoyance, but it has so much potential if you crank it up, make it much more devastating and revolve the game-play into a loop around dying from it. In my first play-through I did not realize I can extinguish the fires, yet, I lasted quite a while, I picked strategic positions and converted land, managed to scrape for some holy points towards the end. I actually expected the holy points shop will be permanent bonuses, to help me when I face the volcano in my next life and was disappointment that it bought cards I do not need. My second play-through, I did not lose even one cell to fire, since being aware of the mechanic.... It was an entirely different game, my argument being, a worse one!

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

I did actually make the fires more devastating for the upcoming update, but I probably need to do more playtesting.

I actually find it interesting you managed to avoid the fires without extinguishing them (I added a prompt/tutorial for that btw). It's a mix of pure rng and smart thinking.

For the shop, I added more cards, as well as a Wonder type card that can be used to build a one of a kind building.

Aside from amping up the fires/volcano, do you have any other suggestions on how to make the game more interesting or challenging?

the game art is good and attracted me to play a few days

That's awesome! Let me know if you have any feedback ๐Ÿ˜

i feel a bit bored after used to clicking on fire, building things i need. I'm not a pro on game design, but some random event may make player have more things to do. Overall, it a good game from a game jam in few days ๐Ÿ˜€

Random events are a good idea!

I'll def think about maybe making the fire less forgiving.

And more stuff to do!

Thanks

great game.

Glad to hear. Let me know if you have any feedback!

(+1)

nice game loop.

Awesome. Do you have any feedback / suggestions on how to improve the game? :)

(+1)

Yes, but I would not know if it aligns with your direction for the game.

I'm open to hearing any feedback or suggestions ๐Ÿ˜Ž

really lovely game!! had me play twice just because it was so relaxing (despite certain volcanic activity). very polished experience with a whole lot of potential :)) but at the same time, its already pretty whole

Thanks for the kind words! I want to further develop it, but I think it needs a bit more depth for that. Let me know if you have any suggestions!

Well, the game is good, but I think it would be fun to make more items in Faith shop. Also it would be great to make Volcano Meter down upgrade in the shop. For me around 500 faith is pretty suitable for this thing

(+1)

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

For the upcoming update, I already added more cards to the shop (new cards as well!).

As for the Volcano, I plan on adding a UI that allows spending resources to delay the final eruption.

it made my computer freeze

(+1)

That sucks, sorry it happened. Were you playing on the browser?

(1 edit)

Perhaps I am missing something, but the volcano nearly immediately destroyed all my buildings rendering me income-less and unable to play.  Perhaps that's the point?

edit: i am a dumby and missed that you click fires to put them out

(1 edit)

You are not dumb! That's on me for not making a tutorial / prompt for extinguishing fires, due to not prioritizing that enough during the jam.

I already remedied this issue in the upcoming update, as you can see here :)

Thanks for playing, and let me know if you have any feedback!

4578, no idea if that's good or bad. A few suggestions for the game would be simply special cards/buildings, you could make some that increase/decrease the frequency of the fire (like a christian church for the "wrath of the gods"), you get the idea. There could be cards that are bound to eachother (so if one burns the other will burn too), and many other options. Apart that you could put different time categories, so you could choose if you want a long lasting or short game. You could add a leaderboard to each category, incouraging players to try different playstyles. I don't know, I'm just brainstroming. I didn't see any inherent flaws with the game, so I think you should just expand and add content.

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

That's a great idea with the special buildings, and the bound buildings too! I thought about adding a fountain that prevents or slows down fire in neighboring tiles.

I also thought about adding bless cards which will cause rain that extinguishes fires for some time, and other buffs.

A game length category is definitely something I thought about, but I wasn't sure how that will affect the score. Good thinking with having different score categories.

It's cool btw, all feedback and ideas help shape the game!

5041 on my first game! Sad to just watch it all burn at the end =(

That's a great score! Sorry about that haha

Do you have any suggestions on how the make it less bitter?

(+1)

I found it sad as well, but I think that's appropriate. It's hard to see the destruction of an entire city and much of its populace as anything other than tragic.

For sure in that aspect. I was looking at it more gameplay-wise. If there was meta/post match progression for example, you might look forward to that and care less about your hard working burning off.

Just a thought ๐Ÿ™‚

(+1)

Oh for sure a post match progression system would be cool and add to the replay-ability. Whether it be upgraded cards to add to the deck, or the options to choose new biomes or tile skins. Probably the easiest and least effort option tho it to make a 2x speed or even 5x speed that's unlockable after the first run

(+1)

thats such a good idea

3451 points first run
